What is gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia is when male breasts become bloated like female breasts.
Gynecomastia is occurred by the hormone effect where fat is accumulated around the breast to develop the mamary gland.
Causes of Gynecomastia

Male breasts are developed in mamary gland, or fat is accumulated to be bloated like female breasts.
In the case of gynecomastia, male hormone is reduced or female hormone is increased to stimulate the inactive mamary gland.
Normally, gynecomastia is occurred from congenital fat accumulation or having abnormal hormone metabolism from a specific illness. Also, gynecomastia may occur in the adolescent period, but is normally disappeared within 3 years before the age of 20.Those who need

Surgical Technique for Gynecomastia
Fat tissues can be removed through liposuction, but in the case of the mamary gland, it is difficult to be removed only through liposuction, so liposuction and removal of the mamary gland shall be performed in combination.
Liposuction

In the case of minor gynecomastia with just fat accumulated, liposuction is performed with about 0.5cm incision at the lower part of the breast. There is no scar left, and the procedure is simple, but if the mamary gland is developed excessively, the procedure shall be performed in combination with removal for a better effect.
Mamary gland removal

When the mamary gland of the breast is developed, it is not possible to remove the mamary gland only through liposuction, so a 2~3cm incision is made below the areola to remove the mamary gland directly.
