What is Two jaw Surgery?

In cases where the mandible protrudes out more than the upper jaw does, such as mandibular prognathism, long face, or facial asymmetry, more often than not, a maloccluding dental interlocking may also largely occur. In such cases, the position and function are abnormal.
Two jaw surgery is an operation that corrects the position by fracturing the upper and lower jaws. Aesthetic goal and the functional target of dental interlocking must all be satisfied. The surgical outcome is dramatic, and there is also a significant change in a patient’s appearance.

Advancements in line surgery are possible due to considerable progression in orthodontic procedures, rather than that of surgical methods.

In the past, it was demanding to carry out a proper occlusion suitable for the resultant shape of a facial surgery. Now, even a movement of the premolar and molar have become facilitated. Thus, once a shape of the face has been created, any dental work/tooth fitting can be fitted onto the face. Cases of line surgery largely show malocclusion after surgery. However, a patient can undertake postsurgical orthodontic treatment, preventing recurrences while attaining stable dental occlusion.
